I had some words prepared in my mind these last few days to culminate the end of a really fun and my first Blaugust 2015. Now that the day’s arrived? I’m speechless; torn about how I want to convey all this. This is the reason I’m not the best at scheduling posts and am more apt to write on the fly.
I remember reading a tweet from Belghast’s blog about the Blaugust Initiative and asking myself internally if I was able of completing it.
I’m not one that can normally complete a month long challenge like this without stumbles in the road or completely giving up halfway. Never the less this was something I wanted to do, and do well. With a baby blog that started with a mere 300 page views and scattered posts here and there on August 1st Pizza Maid today is now 51 posts filled with pictures, videos, and memories. A surprising 1,000 page views later, 27 followers, and readers from over 40 countries? Thank you. I could honestly cry right now I’m so very humbled and grateful. The fan mail and kind words I received from old friends and new followers? Thank you. You were a great source of motivation and drive to keep writing.
Are there regrets? Sure. I never got to post a Culinarian guide for Final Fantasy XIV. I never managed to find time to post a video with me doing my 10 step skincare face routine. I never got Rue fan art done! BUT? That is the beautiful thing in the days following Blaugust; I can still do all these things and them some.
I never set myself with any rules and regulations on what I wanted to accomplish in my posts this past month. Above all else? I wanted to share my thoughts with sincerity, my ideas with creativity, and my emotions as I was feeling them. I know a lot of other fellow Blaugustians aimed to do the same, and it was of great assistance. Reading Murf’s thoughts on games and social dynamics was fascinating. Ysharros‘ sense of humor is one I found myself laughing so hard sometimes I was brought to tears with that sense of humor while reading posts. I kept following along and rooting for Flynn during his road trip of self discovery finding the right XIV tanking class. There’s Jaedia and Chestnut, Missy, Ayren, Byx, Sagacyte, Goobbfella, Rinike, and so many others (YES I LINKED ALL THESE PEOPLE BECAUSE YOU SHOULD READ THEIR SITE AND FOLLOW THEIR AWESOMENESS. REAL TALK). And then? Then there was Belghast. I look up to him a lot as a blogger and as a person. Writing a post a day for a month is a feat, and he does this ALL THE TIME. Moreover as a person, and as a friend? He’s such an amazing person.
All you Blaugustians and to you Belghast? I’m forever thankful that Blaugust exists and along the way I met you all. The reward that I can take with me from all this is I found my voice in my writing and that I know you all better now. I found the confidence to post the little things that make me smile, and the points in my life that have driven me to the point of tears with no reservations. I’m not afraid of who I am and who I want to be on the Internet. It may not seem like much, but you all gave me something I can carry with me always. Again thank you. Truly.
