Well… my “About Me” section is pretty barren considering I get shy when I have to speak directly about myself. Here’s hoping this goes well! Eep!
Fact Numero Uno: I’m Deredere IRL
*Nods* It’s true. If you thought the .moe extension to this blog was purely for giggles well… it was, BUT I really am a happy individual 99% of the time. When I’m around family, friends, loved ones, perfect strangers, etc. I rarely change my emotions and energy for anyone and a bulk of the time I just love making people smile. I have my moments when I’m blue or mad but most people who know me best know that I love being optimistic and try to make others feel better in any capacity I can.
Fact Numero Dos: Sailor Moon Saved My Life
It is no secret to folks that I am a die hard Moonie. I’ve loved the franchise since the 90’s and in fact? It saved my life. When I lost my father at 17 years old, I was a mixed up ball of emotions. I wasn’t sure how to cope or how to grieve. I felt very alone and unsure of where to turn. When I’m sad I normally turn to the things that make me smile so I watched this movie and heard a song I’ll cherish until my final breath:
What’s crucial about this whole thing is this specific point:
This. A VHS movie about a magical girl wanting to protect others and never let anyone feel alone gave me strength at a very low and dark point in my life. Because of this, I developed this as my mantra and mission in life. As juvenile as it sounds it’s the arrow that’s kept me on track. All I ever want to do and be remembered for in this world is protecting those who can’t protect themselves, and never let anyone feel alone. That’s what makes me feel like a true Magical Girl day in and day out.
Fact Numero Tres: Pizza is my SECOND FAVORITE FOOD
WHAT? HAS THIS ENTIRE BLOG BEEN A LIE?! No no it hasn’t. I really do love pizza with all my heart and soul. BUT… there is a food that’s always held the coveted number one spot in life. It’s name? Mofongo.
Mofongo is a dish with fried plantains as its main ingredient. Plantains are picked green and mashed with salt and water in a wooden kitchen device also known as a pilon, or mortar and pestle. The object is to produce a tight ball of mashed plantains that would absorb the attending condiments and have either pork cracklings (Chicharrón) or bits of bacon inside. It’s a dish my parents have made for me for years, and it’s still one I’ll never get sick of. I even just had it for a meal yesterday! Yum….
Fact Numero Cuatro: I AM THE EYE OF SAURON. (Not really, but my last name is.)
Ok so if I really was? That’d kinda be bad ass. Truth be told? My last name when translated from its original French routes it translates to “The Tower of the Eye”. Best of luck to the man who wishes to take my hand in marriage. You can’t beat that for a freakin’ last name. Tee hee hee. 🙂
Fact Numero Cinco: The Best Pairing is Chocolate Cake & Orange Juice
I’m reading all these facts, and kind of kicking myself in the arse. I had to stretch for this one, but it’s true. We all have those weird, quirky food habits. Mine? I hate milk. Hate it. Detest it. Loathe It. So when it comes to a birthday party or a celebration involving cake (specifically chocolate cake)? I enjoy drinking orange juice instead of milk. I remember when I told Sam about it he practically gagged. Let me remind you though… THERE’S FOLKS IN THIS WORLD WHO EAT THEIR EGGS WITH KETCHUP. EGGS WITH KETCHUP. THINGS THAT MAKE ME GAG FOR A $1000, ALEX.
And folks? Here’s the portion of the post where I nominate some super stellar folks for this prestigious award ^_^ :
