…. we’re still kickin’ it. Hehe.
It’s no secret and no surprise that the birth of this blog started as a way to remedy my fear of turning 30. BUT— this blog was also born thanks to the support of someone I had just started opening up to four years ago, and today he has my heart and soul completely.
Life threw us some funny curve balls in the process of finding one another. We had to let go of things we had cherished for so many years, and learn how to stand up after being kicked down pretty badly. In the year prior to us actually “talking” there was a period of of us both being single, and acclimating ourselves to the life of singledom. There was some Gundam model kits that were built on Valentine’s Day with some booze and basketball, and there were many nights after work where solo dinners to The Olive Garden was a thing. Order enough soup, salad, and breadsticks and the staff starts to know you by name. True story.
I believe that fate intervened though. The cosmos looked down upon us both and said, “Ya’ll have seen some shit. Been through some shit. It’s time to finally catch a break.” and it did… with a staycation.
Over the course of a week, you and I spent practically every minute together via Twitter DM, text, in Final Fantasy: A Realm Reborn (of course in the Golden Saucer), and over Skype. It wasn’t until a few weeks later, on May 3rd to be precise, that we decided to make it official.
Now not everything has been perfect; we’ve had our ups and downs. I can honestly say though I don’t remember what life was like before you were in it, and thankfully as we enter the next level up in our relationship we have tons of new memories to create and new milestones to reach together so I don’t have to worry what life would be like without you.
To my tag team partner in life, my best friend, and my heart? Thank you. I was always in love with the idea of love, but you showed me that what we have built together for the last four years is more than I ever imagined and then some. You’ve helped me see truly who I am inside and the person that I want to show others, and the wife I want to be for you. As individuals you show me that we’re capable of tackling whatever hurdles are in our way. Together? We can take on the world. I’ve been doing a lot of shoulder presses lately so you don’t have to carry the weight of the world on your shoulders forever.
I love you Handsome. Happy 4th Anniversary. Here’s to 996 more…. BECAUSE I AM GODLIKE IN MORTAL KOMBAT 11.
